Vancouver Watch

Cochran may not be the most accomplished U.S. skier going into the 2010 Olympic Winter Games, but he has proven himself the most consistent slalom racer on the U.S. Team. He was the top American finisher in the event at the 2006 Olympic Winter Games and the most recent World Championships and is the two-time defending National champion. A specialist, Cochran's shot at a medal in Vancouver is most likely to come in the slalom.

 Personal

Cochran is the latest in a long line of skiing Cochrans; his grandfather was the U.S. head coach in 1974, his dad and three aunts were Olympians and he has three relatives currently on the U.S. Ski Team. His family owns Cochran's ski resort in Vermont. He studied mechanical engineering at the University of Vermont and made his own name on the international scene in 2008, finishing eighth in a tough slalom race in Italy and getting doused with champagne by teammate Ted Ligety.
