Vancouver Watch
Bahrke is one of the most accomplished athletes on the U.S. Ski Team. She is an Olympic silver medalist and a two-time World Championships medalist and has finished the World Cup season ranked in the top 10 in eight of the last 10 years. Going into her third Olympic Winter Games, she certainly won't be fazed by the big stage. It would be a great story if she can rekindle the magic from her silver-medal showing in Salt Lake City.
Personal
Bahrke started skiing at 3 years old with her mom, Trilla. In seventh grade, a high school coach convinced her to try alpine racing. It took daily calls for two months from a Squaw Valley coach to eventually get her to give freestyle a shot. Her brother, Scotty, is an aerialist on the U.S. Ski Team. In 2003, Bahrke suffered a season-ending broken jaw in Japan. She missed the 2008 season after blowing out her knee on the eve of the first World Cup competition.
Outside of skiing, Bahrke founded Silver Bean Coffee, a Salt Lake City-based coffee company, with partner Matt Happe. Her hobbies include windsurfing, biking, waterskiing and shopping. In high school, she also played soccer in the fall and softball and track in the spring.
