Nyman provides depth to the U.S. Ski Team in speed events, having made strides from Torino to the 2007 World Championships. However, injuries have riddled his 2008-09 season, and he did not compete at the 2009 World Championships.

 Personal

One of four brothers, Nyman grew up in Sundance, Utah, (Robert Redford's resort town) and was skiing at age 2 and racing at 8. A bad back has bothered him since a crash in Italy two years ago. The back injury was so bad early on that he had trouble walking down stairs and it was later revealed that he had a bulging disc and a pinched nerve.

A free spirit, Nyman has compared himself to water, saying "I flow." Teammates call him "Planet Provo" for being in his own world. His motto is: "The grass is greener where you water it," a quote from his dad. He dated fellow U.S. skier Julia Mancuso for three years.
